El pianista y compositor catalán Jaume Vilaseca, también licenciado en Filología Hispánica, es uno de los músicos más versátiles del jazz español, un maestro de la fusión del jazz con el flamenco, la música latina, el rock y la música hindú. Si el brillante concierto que ofreció en Jazz San Javier en 2011 fue una buena muestra de ello, este año nos ofrece un proyecto especial para el festival del máximo interés; una primera parte de presentación de su nuevo disco Jazznesis II, nueva incursión en la música del grupo británico Genesis, recreándola desde una visión jazzística, y para la segunda parte, presentación de su nuevo disco con el virtuoso del sitar Ravi Chari, uno de los músicos más prestigiosos de la India, con la participación en ambas partes del concierto de la cantante Mar Vilaseca, una de las revelaciones del nuevo jazz catalán.

The Catalonian pianist and composer Jaume Vilaseca, with a degree in Hispanic Studies, is one of the most versatile musicians in Spanish jazz, a master of jazz flamenco fusion, Latin music, rock and Indian music. If the brilliant concert he performed in Jazz San Javier in 2011 was a good any indication, this year he offers a highly interesting project for the festival; a first part to present his new album Jazznesis II, a new incursion into the music of the British group Genesis, recreated in a key of jazz, and for the second part, the presentation of his new album with the sitar virtuoso Ravi Chari, one of the most prestigious musicians in India, with the participation in both parts of the concert of singer Mar Vilaseca, one of the revelations of the new Catalonian Jazz.

La espectacular banda original de James Brown, The JB’s, bajo la dirección del trombonista Tyrone Jefferson, director musical de The JB’s desde 1976 y uno de los artífices del espectacular sonido de la banda de soul y funk más brillante del mundo, ofrece el repertorio íntegro de los conciertos de James Brown, “El Padrino del Soul” y una de las mayores leyendas de la música del siglo XX. Once músicos en escena, con una sección de metales impactante y con la participación de Martha High, vocalista de JB’s desde 1964, una cantante de soul capaz de derretir las piedras. Este proyecto, el único avalado y respaldado por la familia de James Brown (a través de la James Brown Family Foundation), cuenta, además, con el gran Danny Ray, maestro de ceremonias de James Brown desde 1960, con el bajista Fred Thomas y el batería Tony Cook, sección de ritmo original de The JB’s desde 1976 y con un conjunto de grandes músicos que contribuyeron a crear los impresionantes directos del Padrino del Soul, además de con otra cantante de primera línea, Cynthia Moore (The Bettersweets). Todos los ingredientes para un concierto de soul que dejará huella en la historia del festival.

James Brown’s original band, The JB's, under the direction of trombonist Tyrone Jefferson, musical director of The JB's since 1976 and one of the architects of the band’s spectacular soul and funk sound, offers the full repertoire of James Brown’s concerts, " the Godfather of Soul" and one of the greatest musical legends of the twentieth century. With eleven musicians on the stage, an impressive brass section and the participation of Martha High, vocalist for the JB’s since 1964, a singer capable of melting stones. This project, the only one fully endorsed by the James Brown Family Foundation, also includes the great Danny Ray, James Brown’s Master of Ceremonies since 1960, with bassist Fred Thomas, and drummer Tony Cook, the original rhythm section since 1976 with a group of musician who contributed in creating the impressive live performances of the Godfather of Soul, also with another great singer, Cynthia Moore (The Bettersweets). All the ingredients for a soul concert which will leave a mark in the history of the festival.
