Es un honor para Jazz San Javier presentar a Ellis Marsalis, uno de los más importantes pianistas de jazz de la ciudad de Nueva Orleans, y con un prestigio inmenso como profesor de jazz. Maestro de grandes virtuosos como Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Harry Connick Jr. o Nicholas Payton, entre muchos otros, y padre y también maestro de cuatro músicos tan reconocidos mundialmente como Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo y Jason Marsalis, Ellis es toda una referencia para los aficionados al jazz clásico. Titular de la cátedra de estudios de jazz en la University Of New Orleans hasta 2001, Ellis tiene una fantástica discografía a sus espaldas, como líder y como sideman. Con un magnífico cuarteto en el que figura otro de sus alumnos, el prestigioso saxofonista Jesse Davis, Ellis Marsalis nos ofrece un concierto en la noche de clausura del festival, que hará las delicias de los aficionados al mejor jazz.

It is an honor for Jazz San Javier to present Ellis Marsalis, one of the most important jazz pianists in the city of New Orleans. Teacher to several great virtuosos like Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Harry Connick Jr, or Nicholas Payton, among many others, including his world renown sons Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo and Jason Marsalis. Ellis is a reference to all classical jazz aficionados and he was the leading educator in Jazz Studies at New Orlans University until 2001. Ellis has a impressive discography both as leader and sideman. With a magnificent quartet which includes Jesse Davis, another one of this disciples, Ellis Marsalis will perform on the final night of the festival to the delight of fans of the very best jazz.

Una producción propia de Jazz San Javier une en su escenario a tres grandes del jazz; el fantástico cantante de jazz y blues Kevin Mahogany, al que la crítica ha considerado el mejor cantante barítono de jazz vivo, a la altura de Joe Williams y Johnny Hartman, un artista muy querido en San Javier, que dejó en sus anteriores visitas un magnífico recuerdo. La primera visita al festival del prestigioso pianista italiano Dado Moroni, con una larga carrera de 36 años en la que ha tocado entre muchos otros con Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Ray Brown o Ron Carter. Finalmente, otro grande del jazz europeo, el guitarrista sueco Ulf Wakenius, conocido como miembro del último cuarteto de Oscar Peterson y también miembro del trio de Ray Brown, con 19 álbumes como líder de sus propios grupos. Un trio de ases, del que cabe esperar un concierto de jazz para recordar muchos años.

A production of Jazz San Javier brings together on its stage three jazz greats; the fantastic jazz and blues singer Kevin Mohagony, considered by the critics as the best living jazz baritone voice, right up there with Joe Williams and Johnny Hartman, a beloved artists in San Javier whose previous performances left behind amazing memories. The first visit to the festival of the prestigious Italian pianist Dado Moroni, with a long career of 36 years in which he has performed amongst many others with Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Ray Brown or Ron Carter.
